Creating a Task

In this article, you can learn how to create tasks in the Task application. The three options available for creating a Task from the Task application are all similar.

How to create a Task from the My Tasks view

  • On the My Tasks view, simply click on the Add Task field to create a task. All the tasks created in My Tasks will be assigned to you automatically. 

 

 

  • Select a Start date for the task.

 

 

  • Select a Due date for the task. The Start date and Due date cannot be set on a weekend day.

 

 

  • Select task type: Task or Deliverable. Deliverables can only be created within Waterfall type projects. With a Deliverable
    • Enter the Task name and Due date fields;
    • You can assign only one Human resource;
    • You cannot plan effort for the assignee;
    • You cannot add time;

You cannot add the Deliverable to an Agile (Kanban) project.

 

 

  • Select the Add button.

 

How to create a Task in the All tasks view

Select the All tasks view from the left sidebar.

  • On the All Tasks view, click on the Add Task field and enter a name. 

 

 

  • Select a Start date for the task.

 

 

  • Select a Due date for the task. The Start date and Due date cannot be set on a weekend day. The current date is set as the Start/ Due dates by default. You can modify the dates at a later time. The Due date must be later than the Start date.

 

 

  • Select task type: Task or Deliverable. Deliverables can only be created within Waterfall type projects. With a Deliverable
    • Enter the Task name and Due date fields;
    • You can assign only one Human resource;
    • You cannot plan effort for the assignee;
    • You cannot add time;
    • You cannot add the Deliverable to an Agile (Kanban) project.

 

 

  • Select the Project the Task being created belongs to. 

 

 

  • You can also create an Independent Task that is not associated with any project. Simply don’t select any Project from the Project field. You can link a task to a Project with an In Progress status at a later time. You can also create a Project later to add your task to. You can add an Independent Task to a Project on the grid view by inline editing. The Independent Task can be assigned to other users. However, you can only add an Independent Task to a Project if it has no linked assignments. 

 

 

  • You can add an Independent Task to a Project on the Task card. You can open the Task card by selecting the Task row.

 

 

  • Select the Add button.

How to create a Task in the Tasks by Project view

Select the Tasks by projects view from the left sidebar.

  • On the left sidebar, select the Project to which you wish to add the Task.  Or use the search icon   to open the search field. 
    • Start to enter the Project name.
    • Select the desired project.

 

 

  • Click on the Add Task field and enter a Task name.

 

 

  • Select a Start date for the task. 

 

 

  • Select a Due date for the task. The Start date and Due date cannot be set on a weekend day. The current date is set as the Start/ Due dates by default. You can modify the dates at a later time. The Due date must be later than the Start date.

 

 

  • Select task type: Task or Deliverable. Deliverables can only be created within Waterfall type projects. With a Deliverable

Your task has been created within the selected project.
