Update Rates in Projects (v10.xx)

Update Rates in Projects (v10.xx)

It is possible to define different rates within a single project. After importing default rates from Rate Management, the project manager can modify the imported rates.

  1. The functions "Import Rates" and "Update Rates" affect a single project.
  2. The functions "Update Future" and "Update All" affect a selection of projects.

Note: Changes/updates made to default Rate Management will not affect rates already imported into a project.

Default Rates

For projects without modified rates, actual costs are generated as follows:

  1. The "Resource " reports time (system creates Timedetail).
  2. The Timedetail retrieves the rate from the assignment, which in turn gets it from the resource document.
  3. The Timedetail fetches the activity type from the Task to obtain the right cost.
  4. Costs are calculated by multiplying the reported time by the correct rate.

Import Rates

If a project requires different or persistent rates unlinked from global rates, the project manager can create a project rate document.
  1. Open Project Description
  2. Click on Action
  3. Select "Import the rates"
  4. A copy will be created for the All-All-Rate in the project.

From this point forward, assignments will retrieve rates from the Resource document, and the Project Rate document will be used for all Resources.

Note: You need to configure the Navigation to get this view.

Note: The diagram shows the single action in two paths; only one will be done.

Update Rates

If a Project requires different rates for individual participants, the project manager can create rate documents for all participants.

  1. Open Project Description
  2. Click on Action
  3. Select "Update the resource rates"
  4. All project rates will be updated

The project manager can then modify rates for each resource individually. Future costs will be calculated using these resource specific rates within the project.

Update Future

Once project and resource rates are created for a project, these rates will persist even if global rates will change. To update rates for multiple projects you can use the update functions Cerri Project provides in the Task View.

To get actual rates for new time records (Timedetail costs) Cerri Project provides two bulk functions. Both affect new time reporting.

  1. Go to the "Task" View.
  2. Open Action Menu and select "Update the rates for the future"

  1. Select the projects to update

Future costs will now be calculated using the new resource rate documents.

Update All

To update rates for new and old time records (Timedetail costs), Cerri Project provides the following function:

  1. Go to the "Task" View.
  2. Open the Action Menu and select "Update the rates"

  1. Select the projects to update

Future costs will be calculated using the new resource rate document.

Additionally, all old Timedetails will be recalculated with the updated rates.
