The Labor Costs in the "Task" Document (v10.xx)
The "Task" Document is the description of a project task and includes the list of all associated assignments. It is distinct from the Assignment Document, which focuses on one resource and tracks the time spent by that individual on the task. In the Task Document, the following cost management elements can be managed:
- Activity type: Determines the rate applied when multi-rate management is enabled.
- Resource rate: Definition of a special resource rate for a task.
- Billable amount: Specifies whether the task’s billable amount is fixed or controlled.
The task document also includes the workload details for each resource. This enables the calculation of anticipated costs, actual costs, remaining costs and re-estimated costs by applying the appropriate rate associated with each resource.
Activity type | Category used to determine the applicable rate in cases of multi-rate management. The list of available values is configured in the "Keyword lists" setup document. |
Billing Mode | Specifies the billing mode applicable to the task. This is a single-selection field with the following options: Not billable: No costs are billed.
Fixed price: Billing is pre-determined and recorded through a Billing milestone. Time and material: Billing is based on the time spent working on the task. Default setting is inherited from the project's billing mode. |
Billing state | Only visible if the "Billing mode" is not set to "Not billable". Used to indicate whether the task is already billed or not. This is a single-selection field with the following options:
Billed
Not billed
Partly billed |
Cost "Currency" | Costs are displayed in the currency defined in the "General" setup document. Displayed cost values: Initial, planned, actual, remaining and EAC (estimated at completion) costs. Costs are automatically calculated as the sum of the costs for each resource assigned to the task where the cost is obtained by multiplying the resource's rates by their workload.
See the Tracking Costs and Budgets section for more information.
These fields are displayed only if:
- The user is part of the project team with the "View Costs" role.
- The user is not excluded from viewing financial data in the "General" setup document.
- The user is an application manager (i.e. has the "COP_MANAGERS" role).
The label provides a shortcut to a window displaying all costs in all available currencies, as defined in the "Other currencies" field of the "General" setup document.
