Links (v10.xx)

Links (v10.xx)

The concept of constraints (links or dependencies) in Cerri Project only exists in the Gantt Chart.

Links can be created between tasks, between deliverables and between tasks and deliverables. It is not possible to create links between phases. If a link is broken (e.g., if a task starts before its predecessor finishes), it is displayed in orange.

There are four types of links that can be created:

FINISH-START: The start date of the subsequent task must be set after the end date of the source task.

START-FINISH: The end date of the subsequent task must be set after the start date of the source task.

START-START: The start date of the subsequent task must be set after the start date of the source task.

FINISH-FINISH: The end date of the subsequent task must be set before the end date of the source task.

Note: These rules apply only to tasks that are not yet in progress, completed or canceled.

To create a link between two tasks, click and hold an item (either the start or end of the source task) and drag the cursor to the target task (either the start or end) to which you want to establish a link.

Another way to create a link is to click on the icon in the toolbar, then click on the start or end of the source task (depending on the type of link desired). Drag the link to the corresponding start or end of the target task.

Milestones can be linked too, and the same method applies. You can also select multiple items (excluding phases) and link them by using the icon.

Click on the icon to open the Link properties dialog box. It contains all the information related to the selected constraint.

The properties window is available in both read and edit mode.

 Time lag
Allows you to indicate a time lag between the two activities. The time lag can be either positive or negative.

To delete a link, first select the link by clicking on it in the Gantt Chart. Once the link is selected, click the icon on the tool bar and the link will be deleted. Alternatively, you can press the DEL key on your keyboard to remove the selected link.
