In the Plan (Gantt) (v10.xx)

In the Plan (Gantt) (v10.xx)

To plan a project template is essentially the same as planning a standard project, with the following exceptions:

The author of the plan (Gantt) should be the 'Project Leader' generic resource. This is because, when the plan is synchronized and tasks are generated, the 'Requester' of those tasks is by default the author of the plan. Defining the author of the plan as a 'Generic Resource' ensures that the Requester of the tasks will be replaced by the actual project leader when the 'Replace the generic resources' option is used.

  1. Edit the 'Plan' document
  2. Click on the icon in the lower right corner of the header.
  3. Select the appropriate generic resource in the 'Author' field.

Resources used in the plan should also be generic resources. Assigning a 'generic' resource follows the same process as assigning a 'named' resource.

It is not mandatory to synchronize the plan of a template. However, it is necessary to synchronize it when tasks, assignments, or deliverables contain information not derived from the plan and need manual updates. Examples include:

  1. When the activity type of tasks is required to calculate the costs of the task based on activity.
  2. When the approvers for deliverables are known (whether generic or named resources).
  3. When links between deliverables or between any plan-generated document and other documents are established.
