Create Generic Resource Automatically (10.xx)

It is possible to automatically create generic resources based on the various resource types defined in the General setup document of the 'Resources' database. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the 'Setup & Administration' module of the 'Resources' database.
  2. Select the 'Setup' tab and open the 'General' view.
  3. Edit the 'General' setup document.
  4. Change the value of 'Create the generic resources from the defined resource types?' to 'Yes'.
  5. In the field 'Publish in databases?', select the destination databases where the generic resources should be published.
  6. Save and close the document.

Results:

  1. For each resource type, one generic resource will be created and automatically published in all selected destination databases.
  2. The name of the generic resource will be computed using the following format: % [ResourceType].
  3. The external ID of the generic resource is generated by:
    1. Removing all spaces in the resource's name.
    2. Keeping the first six characters of the name.
    3. Adding additional letters if needed to ensure the uniqueness of the external ID.
